Drainage and Surface Water Systems
Land & Surface Water Drainage
Plastic surface water drainage systems are commonly used across a wide range of applications, including Highways, Rail, Airports, Ports, Agricultural, Sorts & Leisure, Landfill and Domestic.
Plastic land and surface water drainage pipes are available as flexible single-wall coils suitable for general drainage or twinwall pipe when applications require a greater strength
Twinwall and Structured Wall Drainage Systems
Gravity twinwall pipes are manufactured from HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) and is a preferred choice due to its weatherproof, lightweight and strong characteristics. Manufactured with a smooth inner bore, this helps to increase flow rates, whilst the ribbed outer wall provides a higher compressive strength, resistance to impact and endurance compared to other material types available. This makes it suitable choice for large scale civils and industrial drainage systems.
Twinwall drainage pipes are available as non-perforated, fully perforated and half perforated, including diameters 100mm to 600mm, A comprehensive range of fittings and accessories are also available, all compliant with the HAPAS specification (Highways Authorities Product Approval Scheme) and BBA certified.
Large diameter gravity or low pressure structured wall pipe systems made from high density polyethylene (HDPE) can be offered were a lightweight engineered pipe with superior loading capacity is required, including diameters 400mm to 1500mm + . These systems are key in conveying liquids or air, below ground level, above ground or under water in gravity applications. These pipes are designed and manufactured in accordance with National and International standards to meet your local authorities requirements.
The benefits of HDPE twinwall & structured wall as a piping material
Your choice of surface water and drainage pipe makes a real difference to the effectiveness of your drainage system. An HDPE plastic pipe offers a host of benefits compared to other materials, which makes it a consistently popular alternative to concrete and clayware pipe systems.
Advantages include;
- High strength and durability
- Low friction inner wall for improved hydraulics.
- Pipe supplied in up to 6m lengths, reducing the number of joint and risks of leakage
- Available in a range of stiffness classifications
- Excellent resistance to differential settlement
- Improved abrasion resistance
- Less delicate, less vulnerable to crack propagation
- Ideal for cold weather applications
- High strength to weight ratio, plus the flexibility to resist high traffic loads with a design life in excess of 60 years.
- Large weight advantage compared to other pipe materials
- Ease of installation & transportation
- Requires fewer people to lay, resulting in cheaper and more convenient installation.
- Risk of injury during installation is lowered considerably
- Reduced transport costs
- The integral sockets are easy for pipe alignment.
- Ring-seal joint ultimately makes them more watertight.
- Less prone to leaking – a much more reliable drainage solution.
- Minimises the amount of ongoing maintenance that is required, making it a much more affordable choice overall.
- It will also mitigate the other structural issues caused by leakage.
- Available in a range stiffness classifications to meet your projects requirements.
- Fully compliant with existing national and international standards.
Land Drainage
A choice of materials, diameters, colours and coil lengths are offered to the agricultural, sports & leisure sectors to achieve effective management of land water drainage. Including HDPE and PVC coils and Geotextile wrapped filter drain.
Bespoke Manholes & Catchpits
Manholes and Catch-pits have been widely and successfully used for applications including Railway Drainage, Highway Drainage and Oil containment systems. APP can offer specialist fabrication units manufactured to standard designs or to bespoke customer specifications.
